Good afternoon Palomino families,
We need the help of our Palomino Parents and Guardians where it concerns reminding our students proper behavior in the restrooms. We have seen an increase in students making a mess in the restroom facilities, specifically with purposefully clogging toilets with paper towels and writing on the mirrors. These inappropriate behaviors can become costly repairs which cause Administration to close the facilities.
We ask that you please talk to your student about using the restroom for its intended purpose while being respectful of the shared facilities.
We thank you for your partnership. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions.
Hey Palominos, if you would like to be on the Nicolet Cheer team, don't miss the interest meeting tomorrow, 11/6/24 in room 806 from 1:15pm-1:30pm with Ms. P.
See attached flyer!
Hello Palominos,
CHEERLEADING INTEREST MEETING
Ms. P will hold an interest meeting for anyone interested in Cheer on Wednesday in room 806 at 1pm-1:15pm.
You must have your athletic clearance including sports physical completed to try out for the team.
Good afternoon Palomino Families,
Happy November! We would like to give some reminders about NMS policies as we get closer to the end of Semester 1. These guidlelines were shared with students and families at the beginning of the year and grade level advisors are actively reminding students regularly of these expectations, but we want to make sure to re-iterate them to help keep students on track. Your support in keeping your Palomino PAAC Track and End of the Year Activities eligible is essential to their success.
All students should be wearing their ID Lanyards while at Nicolet and this includes for afterschool programs such as Boys and Girls Club where it is also required they wear their ID for safety purposes. They are available for purchase in the ASB Office before school, after school, and during their lunch. It is $7 to replace the lanyard, ID cover, and ID card. Each piece can also be purchased separately.
Absences: Please call the Attendance Office if your child will be absent for any reason. After 3 days of being out sick, a doctor's note will be required upon return. To qualify for PAAC Track events each quarter only 2 unexcused absences are permitted, and for End of the Year Activities (field trips and 8th grade promotion) only 8 total for the year are permissible.
Tardies: School starts promply at 8 am each day. Students have a 4 minute passing period in between classes. To qualify for PAAC Track events and for End of the Year Activities, students can have no more than 5 total tardies. If your student has more than 5 tardies, they need to attend Saturday Academy, serve lunch and/or after school detentions to make them up. More information on future afterschool detentions will follow, but mark your calendars for the next Saturday Academy that you can sign up to attend on December 14 as sign ups for tomorrow's Saturday Academy have already closed.
Grades: Please ensure you are checking your Parent Portal often as grades are updated at least every 2 weeks. At the end of this semster, students with D grades will need to do 10 hours of tutoring and F grades will require 15 hours of tutoring to help restore good academic standing and eligibility for PAAC Track and End of Year Activities. Tutoring with select teachers is available after school, so please inquire within if this interest you.
Student Discipline: Students who attend Alternative to Suspension (ATS) must fulfill their in-house Community Service to qualify for PAAC Track events and for End of the Year Activities. All students who did ATS in Semester 1 need to complete their Community Service before the start of Semester 2 in January.
We thank you for your partnership in helping prepare our Palominos for a bright and successful future! Together, achieving high standards and doing great things are possible! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Thomas.
Have a wonderful weekend, Palominos!
