Dear Nicolet Middle School Community,
As we approach the holiday season, we have a wonderful opportunity to come together and make a positive impact on our local community. We are excited to announce our Canned Food Drive, which will run from November 1st through November 16th.
This initiative aims to provide much-needed support to families in our area. We are collecting dry goods that will be distributed to those who may be facing challenges during the holiday season. Your contributions can make a significant difference in ensuring that everyone has a warm and nourishing meal to enjoy.
Canned food donations can be brought to your child's advisory classroom.
Your participation in this food drive will not only bring joy to families in need but also teach our students the importance of community, compassion, and giving back.
We encourage all parents and students to participate by donating canned and dry goods. Every contribution, big or small, will have a positive impact.
Let's make this holiday season a little brighter for everyone in our community. Thank you for your support and generosity.
Best regards,
Michele Downard
SAI Math Teacher & ASB Advisor

Here is an introduction from Jackeline!
Hello everyone, my name is Jackeline Moreno. I am the new District Community Outreach Specialist for the Banning Unified School District. I am very excited to take on this new role and make connections with all of the community here in Banning. I connect students and their families to resources for food, clothing, academic and social emotional support. Outreach and parent and family engagement are primary functions of my position. I am focused on promoting attendance awareness and work to help our schools sites in promoting a positive and fun learning environment for all. I support Centralized Registration and Student Services programs. Parents can contact me with questions about anything in the District and I will respond with the answer or get families connected to the correct staff for answers. Please contact me at (951) 922-0224 or email me at jmoreno@banning.k12.ca.us. I look forward to working with you.

Good afternoon Palomino Families,
It has come to the attention of the school administration that there is a new social media challenge where students are planning fights with the intention of recording these fights to distribute and/or post them on social media platforms such as SnapChat, TikTok, and Instagram. This is very disturbing and unsettling, and we ask for your help in monitoring your child's social media usage. It is only together as a community that we can influence positive behavior and healthy social media habits.
We also ask that you remind your student of the following:
-Cell phones must be inside their backpacks when they arrive on campus and they are only allowed to be used at lunch time. After lunch they must be put back inside the backpack and not come out again until dismissal.
-Students whose phones are confiscated will need to be picked up by an adult after school. Students who repeatedly have their device confiscated and/or record fights or contribute to social media cyberbullying will be placed on a Cell Phone Contract. Students on this contract will not be allowed to have the phone on their person during the school day as it will be stored in Office 111 at the start of school and retrieved by the student at the end of the day.
-Fighting, bullying, and cyberbullying is not allowed and will lead to serious consequences such as suspension and/or expulsion. All students have a counselor they can talk to, can come to Office 111 to make a report, and have email capabilities to discreetly inform teachers/administration.
Thank you for your help. Please reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions.
