The Boys & Girls Club at Nicolet is an After School Education, Safety, and Extended Learning Program. Our daily attendance consists of 60 students and four staff members. We offer a wide range of activities and programs for our members:
POWER HOUR - Students work on their homework with the help of our staff. We also provide extended learning activities when members are finished with their homework which include writing, reading, and STEM.
TORCH CLUB is a leadership club that teaches members the importance of volunteering, community service, demonstrating good character, and leadership skills.
JUNIOR STAFF members are students who work closely with staff to help plan events. They also help other members with homework, they are involved in community projects, and they participate in the career development and leadership development projects we offer.
TRIPLE PLAY is our sports, recreation, and fitness program. We offer flag football, softball, basketball, tennis, golf lessons, soccer, volleyball, and dodge-ball.
SMART GIRLS is a very special program for us. It is designed to promote health, fitness, prevention education, and self-esteem enhancement program for girls. This program will help our young adolescents reach their full potential.
FINE ARTS is for our members who want to show off their artwork. There is a competition that we enter every year. The different categories students can compete in are monochromatic drawings, multicolored drawings, pastel, watercolor, oil or acrylic, and print-making. The kids love it!
IMAGE MAKERS is a photography program where the members enter into an annual contest sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They compete against other kids throughout the nation. The categories include thinking inside the box, picturing emotions, people-less portraits, what were you thinking, and mystery photos. We provide digital cameras for the members to use. I also would like to congratulate our two students, Marc Logan and Miguel Morones from our Teen Center, who competed in and won in the last two years of competition. They happily attended an awards ceremony in San Diego.
Our members also participate in community events such as the Stagecoach parade, Halloween Fest, the Phineas Festival, and Art Hop to name a few. We just had our Day for Kids/Worldwide Day of Play event which is held every year in September. All the Boys & Girls Clubs around the nation hold this event at the same time. (Click on the link to view the flyer that describes the event that just took place).
Our students also enjoy inside activities in our classroom (room 201) such as board games, Foosball, Wii, and PS3.
